Yesterday was the unveiling of a project I worked on last year - a VR experience for the film La Course des Tuques. All the seats were custom build and have a d-box and a fan that add to the immersive feeling of actually being inside a sled going down the hill.
If it has been quiet here for a while it is because I am now working with Moment Factory on a couple of very big, long term projects. Lots of fun!
It might look like not much is happening, but I've actually been super busy on a really cool VR project - Available this autumn.
Some big news coming up...in the meantime, Merry Christmas
Here's a little piece I've worked on most of the spring. It was a technically challenging job trying to get a paper look in such a compressed time period. It also was a lot of fun and interesting to create a fully digital kitchen and integrate it with the greenscreen.
I got invited back to the Lincoln Centers Directors Lab for a second year (they will take back 4-5 people from the previous year, but only once). It was truly an amazing experience yet again. This time I think I learned more about directing and how directing for Theatre is different than directing for film and TV.
I can finally share this cool project that I worked on last spring in Dubai with GSMPRJ°. It is an interactive experience for the 148th floor of the Burj Khalifa. I will be uploading a making of at a later point, but this should give you an idea of what it is:
I'm working on a shoot for a big commercial in Morocco. It's been a lot of fun so far
Here is a great little film that was put together by Ubisoft about the process we used for the Cinematics of Watch Dogs.
The Lincoln Center brings together 70 young theatre directors from all over the world every summer for a 3 week intensive exchange of ideas. If you look carefully you can see me in the 3rd row to the left.
I'm now officially a Labbie or an official Member of the Lincoln Centers Directors Lab
It didn't take long for people to start uploading all the cinematics from the game. These aren't the best quality cinematics and Aiden often is wearing stuff that isn't the standard costume, but you get the general idea - In total I directed close to 2 hours of cinematics for the game. There are better captures of individual scenes in the work section of my website.
Ok, so the reviews for Watch Dogs were a bit mixed, but the ones that concerned my bit - the direction of the Cinematics were actually remarkably good:
The game is finally coming out on May 27th. I really look forward to being able to show my work.
You can see glimpses of it in the storytrailer here:
I have a big fear of heights, but how often do you get a chance to do this - hanging out of the 109th floor at the Burj Khalifa. All part of the shoot for the new On The Top Experience with GSMPRJCT
I'm currently in Dubai shooting for an installation to be placed on the top of the Burj Khalifa (the highest tower in the world)
